Engineers of Nottingham
This weekly after-school club provides a fun and relaxed environment for pupils to learn about engineering and construction using K'Nex kit. Run in partnership with the University of Nottingham, students involved in a range of engineering courses support the sessions in a volunteer capacity.
Based on Nottingham's popular and well-respected Playing for Success approach, the team also offers a range of after-school study support opportunities:
Galleries of Justice
This programme is provided through a partnership with the Galleries of Justice, Nottingham's unique museum of crime and punishment in the Lace Market. The project enables pupils to work at the Galleries one evening a week looking at issues relating to citizenship, crime and punishment, whilst developing key literacy skills and increasing confidence and self-esteem.
Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery
As part of the Gateway to Opportunities project, this programme is a partnership with the team at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery. Pupils come after school for one evening a week to learn about the history of their city. The programme encompasses a range of activities, including archery, cave tours and archaeology sessions.
New Art Exchange
This project is currently developing in collaboration with staff from Nottingham's ground-breaking gallery venue. The New Art Exchange is the only black arts venue outside of London and is ideally situated on the tram line near the Forest. Pupils come to the gallery one night a week to learn about the current exhibitions and gallery space and through a range of site-specific activities develop confidence in learning as well as acquiring interest and knowledge of the visual arts.
