If you are worried that you might have HIV, or if you have had unprotected sex with someone that might have the virus you should get tested straight away.

Get help locally

The department of Sexual Health and HIV (GUM Clinic) is Nottingham's local centre for sexual health screening and testing. Patients can walk in, or be referred by your GP for advice, counselling, testing and treatment.

The Health Shop is a drop-in service providing advice or support around a wide range of issues regarding substance use and sexual health. The service is free and confidential.

On Bank Holidays and weekends, or when family planning clinics are not open, emergency contraception can also be obtained from the NHS Walk-in Centre. They are open every day including weekends and Bank Holidays, 7am and 9pm.

The Terrence Higgins Trust is a charity which provides support advice, and treatment in relation to HIV and sexually transmitted infections.

Local help when living with HIV/AIDS

If you are living with HIV/AIDS, there is advice and support available. The range of services available to you depends on your personal circumstances but may include:

Tagadere - The independent volunteer run, user-led self help support group for people living with HIV in Nottinghamshire.
