Get help and support with quitting smoking

There is plenty of help and support out there for anyone wanting to quit smoking, your GP should be able to help or they could refer you to a local service.

Where can I get help locally?

Local GP - for information, advice and help with issues around smoking find a GP service near you.

New Leaf Nottingham City - is a free stop smoking service. It offers support and advice through one-to-one, email, text or telephone advice sessions. Call them on 0800 561 2121 or Text NEW to 80800 and a member of the team will call you back.

They can provide advice and support through:

  • One-to-one sessions
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (patches, nasal spray etc) and other medicines such as Champix or Zyban
  • Practical ideas to help
  • Reasons to quit
  • Dealing with cravings
  • Quit kit

New Leaf is an e-cigarette friendly service and can support you if you choose to use one, although they are unable to supply electronic cigarettes.

Where can I get help nationally?

NHS Smokefree - for more information and advice on quitting call the NHS Smoking Helpline on 0800 022 4332 (operates seven days a week Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 11am to 5pm)

Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) - a public health charity that works to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco.
