Duration of the Programme: 24 MONTHS
SALARY: Grade E (£20,661 – rising to £21,962 after 12 months.)
Nottingham City Council’s Major Projects team has a wide experience of delivering multi-million pound projects and programmes on behalf of the Council. The team carries out client side project management (including amongst other disciplines; approvals, business cases, procurement and performance management) on construction projects. These range from relatively small maintenance programmes to significant investment. For example the team has delivered the £500 million tram extension; over £200 million of investment in new build and re-modelled schools, a £50 million leisure transformation programme, including two new leisure centres and is actively involved in several of the projects which make up the Building a Better Nottingham brand.
The team is also responsible for the management of all of the Council’s operational Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and PFI style contracts, which incorporate the tram, street lighting, schools and joint service centres. This includes monitoring of the performance of the PFI operators against sets of criteria set down in the contracts to ensure that high standard service levels are maintained.
The team also runs the Council’s capital portfolio management office, to ensure that there is transparency and objectivity in decision making as the Council seeks to make the most efficient and effective use of its capital resources.
The successful candidate is likely to be involved in tram related work, including the assessment of services under the PFI contracts, data analysis and the undertaking of tram related projects, including assistance in the planning of new routes, in order to give them grounding in a wide range of project and operational contract management skills.
The deadline for submitting an application is midnight on Sunday 22 April 2018
