  • All our libraries stock books and a core selection of leaflets on a wide range of topics including healthy living, specific conditions and mental health
  • We also have parenting collections containing child and infant health information
  • You can search our catalogue to find and request relevant titles

Healthy Living

  • Our colleagues at Public Health have a wide range of information on making changes to your lifestyle and services which can support you - visit their website for everything from healthy eating to addiction support, information on free NHS Health Checks and ways to get your family more active

Reading Well

  • Read yourself better with our Reading Well: Books on Prescription collections on mental health and dementia, and now a new collection for young people, available in all our libraries
  • We stock ‘Memory Packs’ too (themed collections of books, photographs and other material) - great resources for starting conversations with loved ones who have dementia
  • We have a range of Reading Groups including our Reading for Mental Health Book Club which meets at Central Library on the last Saturday of the month from 10.30-11.30 – see our Reading Groups page to find out more

  • Staff in all our libraries can help you to find health information and sources of support
  • For general health information, symptom checkers and service directories, visit NHS Choices or co.uk
  • Need to talk to someone or get advice? NHS Choices has a list of helplines for health and social care issues
  • Listings of support groups can be found on Self Help Nottingham’s pages

Health Events

  • We run a range of health events through the year including supporting major national campaigns such as Change4Life and Be Clear on Cancer, and local campaigns such as Nottingham Mental Health Awareness Weeks
  • The local branch of Healthwatch run drop in sessions in our libraries - contact them for details of sessions where you can give feedback on local health services including care homes
